Welcome to Lap + Leash Doxies. Our names are Jason & Satin Covey. We are a Miniature Dachshund breeder in beautiful North Idaho, where we raise exceptional Doxie puppies in a loving and joyful family environment. This allows us to raise healthy, happy, well-tempered doxies. As a small in-home breeder, our goal is to raise top quality Dachshund puppies so that families in and around North Idaho can experience this loveable breed as we have.
Dachshunds have been our passion ever since we brought our first girl, Molly May, home many years ago. Molly was a loyal family dog for over 16 years. Though she has now passed…the love we have for doxies is because of her. Now we get to share that experience with other families who get to bring one of our puppies to their forever homes. We are excited to join you on this journey as you begin the process of bringing your special puppy to your home and family.
Pricing
- Mini Dachshund price regardless of sex, color, markings etc is $1350
- Puppy has been started on potty training and crate training.
- Puppy will complete a sensory and socialization curriculum.
- Wormed thoroughly.
- First round of vaccinations given.
- Weekly photos and/or videos sent directly to you.
- Limited AKC registration. Fully AKC registration available for an additional fee of $300.
- Customized going home bag with:
- Food the puppies are on
- Blanket with scent of mom and littermates
- Poop bags and a puppy pad or two
- Health records
- At home grooming guide
- Multiple different print outs with tips on adjusting to life with a new puppy
How to Adopt a Puppy
Step 1: Contact Us
We are so excited for you to start your journey for a Lap + Leash Doxie. First, you need to contact us. Since we are a smaller boutique breeder, we currently limit our sales to buyers that can travel to North Idaho to pick up their dachshund puppy. We will reach out to you for an initial phone discussion. This helps us learn more about you and what you have in mind for your future Dachshund pup. It is very important to us to find the perfect fit for both your family and our puppies, therefore there may be situations that we aren’t the best breeder for your needs.
Step 2: Submit Puppy Contract & Refundable Deposit
If it is a good fit for both sides, next you will submit a Puppy Contract. Along with the contract, we will have you submit a REFUNDABLE $500 deposit. The deposit officially puts you on the waitlist. We prefer to accept payments through Venmo. If this does not work for you, we can discuss alternate options. Your reservation fee goes towards the final price of your puppy. If for any reason you change your mind, you will receive a fully refund of your deposit.
Step 3: Wait for a Litter
Shortly after a litter is born, we will make our way down the waitlist. When we get to your spot on the waitlist, we will contact you with the options for available puppies. Get ready for lots of photos and videos. We want to find the perfect puppy for you. Once we find the best puppy for you, we will officially reserve that Doxie for you. At this point, your deposit becomes NON-REFUNDABLE. If for any reason there isn’t a puppy for you in this litter, you will keep your spot on the waitlist, and we start at the top of our waitlist and make our way down the list on the next litter.
Although we may have a general idea of the litters that will be bred throughout the year, there are several things that we just can’t predict until a litter has arrived such as litter size, gender ratio, and color/markings. Those factors all play a part in which families will be interested in a given litter. For that reason, our wait list is ever changing.
